Description of World: Augury comes from a world where the study of arcane energies far outstripped scientific advancement, although only a small percentage of the population is capable of wielding magic and fewer still are vastly powerful. It's a world largely ruled by monarchies and parliaments, and many are devout followers of one of the many gods, very real beings of divine (and infernal) power that are constantly squabbling amongst themselves and involving mortals in their affairs.
Personality: Augury is an ignoble, irreverent, sarcastic, tactless bastard, and he'll often play it up just to get a rise out of people. He has a good sense of humor that's sometimes crude and likes to tease others as far as he can get away with, especially if he's fond of them. Despite his ability to lie with a completely straight face (a very useful ability in his homeland as well as his first line of work) he's a bluntly (and sometimes too bluntly) honest person. If asked he will freely give his opinion without holding anything back. Sometimes even if he isn't. He's intelligent and resourceful, and has a persistent, headstrong, stubborn way about him.
His sense of right and wrong has been slightly skewed by his first profession (something he likes to call an "infiltration specialist"). For instance, he sees no problem with helping himself to things that others either don't need or can't hold onto, and has the annoying tendency to view any locked door as a challenge. He's an alcoholic and freely admits it.
Augury is not an open person, and though he has a soft spot for children and women, he tends to distance himself from others without realizing it. He can be downright lovable, but he can be pushed to stunning violence when cornered, angered, or when he's being protective.
